One of the most common questions we hear in our showroom is: "Do I really need a different pushchair as my baby grows?" With the right frame, the answer is no — and the Stokke® YOYO³ is built to prove it.
A single, lightweight aluminium frame takes your child from the first days home from hospital all the way through the toddler years. Here's exactly how it works at each stage.
Stage 1: Newborn (0–6 months) — The Newborn Pack
From birth, the YOYO³ is configured with the Stokke® YOYO® 0+ Newborn Pack — a fully reclined, cocoon-style seat that cradles your baby safely in a lie-flat position. It clips directly onto the YOYO³ frame and is approved for use from birth.
Alternatively, the Stokke® YOYO® Newborn Shell offers a more structured newborn option for parents who prefer a firmer, more protective surround in those early weeks.
What sets the YOYO³ apart at this stage is its size. It folds to cabin baggage dimensions — so even with a newborn, you're not giving up travel or spontaneity.
Stage 2: Infant (6–12 months) — The 6+ Seat
From around six months, when your baby has developed head control, you switch to the YOYO³ 6+ seat configuration. The seat faces forward, keeping your growing baby engaged with the world around them, while still reclining for naps on the go.
The frame stays exactly the same — only the seat pack changes. That's the YOYO³ philosophy: one investment, adapted as your child develops.
Stage 3: Toddler — Growing with the Frame
The YOYO³ seat accommodates children up to 22 kg, which takes most children well past their third birthday. Add the leg rest for extra comfort on longer outings, or the cup holder for the inevitable snack demands of toddlerhood.
For families with two children, the YOYO³ double configuration connects two frames side by side — still compact enough for most shop doorways.
What You'll Need for Each Stage
- From birth: YOYO³ Frame + 0+ Newborn Pack or Newborn Shell
- From ~6 months: YOYO³ Frame + 6+ seat pack
- Travel extras: Protective bag, wheels pack, carrying strap
- Winter: YOYO® skis, mittens
Why One Frame Makes Sense
Beyond the practicality, there's a financial case too. Buying a single premium frame that genuinely lasts from birth to toddler — rather than a budget newborn option followed by a separate toddler pushchair — often works out cheaper overall, and considerably less stressful.
The YOYO³ is available to try in our showroom in both newborn and 6+ configurations. Our team can walk you through the fold, the seat swap, and help you choose the right colour pack for your family.
